Over My Dead Body (demo)
Death is not the end when you're a subject of a cloning experiment gone wrong.
Since the bodies of your previous clones remain after death, you can use them to reach new heights (literally), create safe passages, or shield yourself from bullets. Think of it as a twisted game of Tetris, except the blocks are your own lifeless corpses.
Note: This project is a work in progress. Feel free to share your feedback if you want to help me make this game better.
Controls
Arrow keys — movement
Z — jump
X — eat a cyanide pill
T — skip the level

Love this game, are you still planning on doing a full release (not demo) of the game?
hey bro the game is really good but in the end screen if u press 't' you get access to some prototype level and these level mechanics are really good and u should add them to the game
I am curious as to how to navigate the secret menu in the game...I stumbled into it but couldn't do anything unfortunately.
Cute and really fun game
Really sweet game, love this as well. End mechanic caught me by surprise as well. Charming.
Fantastic art, fantastic music, great gameplay. So far, it's a 10/10, honestly!
Very fun and a good concept, excited to see what mechanics you might add!
Not sure if that's intended, but the "press start" button on the title screen is spammable: every time you press "Z", you get extra click and bubble sound effects.
The game itself is amazing: I love the music, the art style, the concept itself, and just everything about it. Looking forward to a full release! :)
I played this game after seeing a preview on Twitter. What I don't understand is why can you move the dead bodies in that one see-saw level and not in others? How was I supposed to figure out the puzzle without seeing the solution?
Is there any way to skip/progress the results screen? I don't need to see the seconds and deaths count up. Just show me the results please.
If I hold Z on the results screen after the counting, the clipboard jutters about. Bug or feature? (Ooh, it happened to someone else. Not just me)
Any plans for a speedrun or level select?
I plan to have a hub level where you can select stages. As for the results screen, you're right, I need to revise it.
By the way, I managed to get less death than expected in two levels. Maybe you can add an S+ ranking or something ?
Thanks, that's on my to-do list.
I broke the game by using the pill while coming out of the pipe. Great game, just found a small bug.
Interesting! I’ve never even thought to try it.
I loved the demo! Really looking forward to more
Really amazing game. I liked the mechanics and especially the art. keep it up!
Great demo - thank you! Love the last 'level' ;)
A very lovely game! Great job :)
I happen to also work on a sacrificial type puzzle platformer, however it works a little different than yours does
Looking forward to your next releases
Hey there, I LOVE the pixel art!! In particular, I really like the thick, chunky (?) outlines! And in general I think you got the Game Boy feeling down PERFECTLY!!
I've been really loving seeing your progress / updates on Twitter, and I'm so happy that we can now play the game!
Any chance you might release a downloadable / desktop version of the game??
Oh also, a couple feedback points: I like the jump sound on its own, but I wonder if it might be a bit annoying when you jump repeatedly in quick succession, and the sound plays repeatedly? Also, I wish I could get through the results screen at the end of each level more quickly (and maybe even be able to skip it?)!
Thank you so much for the feedback! I’ll add a downloadable version soon.
Awesome, thank you!! I look forward to it!!
Incredible game! I love the pixel art and the subtle animations that kept everything lively. I was also able to make the results screen fly away with Z. The automated tweet at the end is genius! Great job!
I don't get the jump mechanics. Sometimes I can reach the platforms, sometimes I can't. Feels random. For a puzzle game I shouldn't being struggle with skill gap on movement mechanics. If it's on purpose, I understand and I tell you to keep up and going!
Have a nice day :)
Thanks, I'll look into it! There's plenty more I should add to the basic movement — for example, coyote time. Stay tuned for the next release!
Sometimes I stuck there, and sometimes I can move on. Have no idea?
Yeah, this is something I should fix. It has to do with faulty collision boxes.
I found a visual bug: if you press Z multiple times in the results dialog, it restarts the "leaving" animation every time you press Z.
Hm, I think I know why this happens. Thanks for the feedback!
