Save your sick dog from within by shooting the infection with a tank. Gain experience by destroying the infected cells and choose which pill your dog should swallow next. Each pill upgrades your bio tank in a meaningful way.

Hey there. This game (intentionally or not) is already compatible with over 400 controllers, because if you take the keyboard and mouse defaults, and plug them into JoyToKey, the game won't conflict with the created layout. It's also possible to split the keyboard and mouse defaults across multiple controllers, and make the game a 2-player co-op.
I wasn't able to figure out what was causing me to run into pill upgrade opportunities.
I would love to see a Windows version.
Pill Upgrades are gotten from breaking the purple blocks. If you look closer, you will notice that the green stuff from the purple flows into the red bar and fills it. Once the red bar is filled, you get a pill upgrade. You need the purple thing to show zero and the virus green thing to reach its counter. The green thing does nothing else then help move on the story/game.
I got this little visual bug on every level everytime when I played again for the second time (I have tried it a few times by refreshing my browser window and it’s pretty consistent), although I do kind of like the black background lol

A fun experience, with a foreboding story that can have a happy ending if you realize you need to score Perfects. That said, the levels feel a bit too easy and small. Never felt under pressure by anything, and it fairly quickly became too easy to kill the purple. I had to hold back to ensure I killed enough of the wandering beasties before ending the level.
Also, I may have just had too many of the right upgrades, but the boss fight kind of wasn't. It never fought back at all, just wormed around while I shot it to death. Felt a little anti-climatic, though I am happy to have saved Max.
very fun and well made game, especially for a game jam. I could see this as a much larger project, more content, levels, weapons, endless mode, etc. Good job!
Spoilers for the game: I played this a couple days after the anniversary of my dog's death, so right away I knew I was going to be crying. While I'm sure it's not your intention, some things in the game really hurt and I wanted to share my experience.
I was already sad because my dog died of cancer so it was emotional having the ability to fight it. I got hit once (maybe twice) really early on when I was figuring out the game. Thinking nothing of it my experience followed as the game mentions something about dying, loved and together which sucked for me cause I wasn't able to be there when my dog died. I don't think that is an issue with the game however. Having the dog die really sucked, but then being told that I COULD have saved her reaaaaaally hurt. That did feel insensitive as having the player be responsible for the dog's death already really hurts but on top of that the fail state being "not being perfect" at a time you don't know you need to is unfair and feels bad. At that point I'd rather be one-hit and receive a "try again?" screen.
I hope you don't take this as me hating your game. I just wanted to share the perspective of someone who has lost their dog and also lost the game. Best wishes.
I'm really sorry about your loss. I appreciate your feedback and understand your point completely. I'll see how I can revise the ending to make it feel less cynical.
I think the main thing that would affect most players is not knowing you failed, because you passed the level just fine. Maybe revise the requirements or if you really want a "perfect" ending maybe completing them all saves the dog and getting perfect causes the shiba to be too powerful and take over the world (or something silly like that lol)
it's a game about saving a dog--what do you reckon the logical conclusion would be to failing the level? Everyone has lost a dog if that is insensitive maybe should avoid this game. itch will downvote me for not catering to you tho
dude, i feel no compation for dogs, i don't feel "cuteness" which is what gets humans to like dogs, and even i can tell you were a jerk for saying this
my first run got me homing + piercing + double shot + damage up + speed up i was unstoppable
When I playtested, I once got double shot (twice) + back shot + range, and my bullets covered pretty much the entire screen
I got double shot 3 times in a row and ricochet, it felt great
I saved Shiba!!
I saved Maxwell!!!
