Last Chess Standing: chess puzzles with a twist ♟️

Last Chess Standing is a cozy chess-based puzzle game where the goal is to capture pieces in such a way that only one remains on the board.
Sounds easy, right? Well, there are some special rules to spice things up:
🟡 Golden pieces can capture both colors.
🔴 Red pieces self-destruct after moving.
🟢 Green pieces transform into whichever piece they capture.
Every five or ten levels, I add something new into the mix. All in all, there are 50 levels for you to beat.
If you’re a chess pro, you probably would be bored to tears. But if you’re a rookie, like me, Last Chess Standing is a perfectly good pair of training wheels.
Initially, I was making this game for Poki, an online platform for web-based games. Sadly, I underestimated how casual their audience is. Only a select few test players liked my game, even after I dumbed it down. Twice.
(Shoutout to India, by the way! The players who engaged with Last Chess Standing the most all came from 🇮🇳. You guys rock!)
That is not to say I blame the audience. I realize chess isn’t for everyone. I, for one, am simply terrible at it. My elo is probably not far from the year Magna Carta was published. (Insert Better Call Saul meme here.)
In a way, Last Chess Standing was a project meant to force me to understand how chess works. Surprisingly, this wasn’t even the first chess-based game I worked on. Go figure.
While I don’t really have a habit of returning to my old projects, I do want to fix some of the smaller issues. Let me know if you find any, I appreciate all the help.
Happy check & mating!
Cheers,
